Bachelor of Computer Graphic Design - Wanganui

Computer Graphic Design is a creative process that combines art and technology to communicate ideas. The course begins with the message that in the hands of a talented designer, communication transcends mere words. By controlling image and text, the designer creates and manages the production of information designed to inform, persuade and educate a specific audience.

FIRST YEAR
Throughout the first year, students will have the opportunity to develop a firm foundation in the basic elements and principles of design. Both conventional and computer teaching/learning methods are used. In the Liberal Arts modules, students will have the opportunity to learn basic knowledge and skills that will assist them in broadening their verbal and visual vocabulary.

Applied English • Basic Design • Colour Practice and Theory • Computer Practical • Design History • Drawing • Introduction to Theory and Design Methodology • Photography • Production • Typography

SECOND YEAR
Information from year one is further investigated and researched in greater depth. Concepts and ideas discussed in Introduction to Theory and Methodology are reinforced in the other classes. Student centred learning is introduced in the curriculum as a learning strategy.

At the beginning of the second semester, students will select an area of specialisation which they would like to pursue.

THIRD YEAR
Previous knowledge, research, and skills are applied and further developed by special projects given in the student's core subjects. Students undertake an intern project where design research, theory, creativity, technical skills, and communication skills are applied to practical projects for selected non-profit clients.

or moveable.
